Veterans' Day Assembly November 11, 2019 On Monday, November 11, JHS was proud to honor our community heroes at the annual Veterans' Day Assembly in the school's gym. Braving the snowy weather, 30 veterans from all branches of the military attended the assembly. During the assembly, a slideshow was presented to honor those that have served or are currently serving from our staff and students’ families, which can be seen here. Our guest speaker, Mr. Gary Blackmore, a veteran himself, spoke on how he serves other veterans through various organizations including the veterans’ hospice, veterans’ court and Central Missouri Honor Flight. The week prior to the assembly, the students had a Penny War and raised $559.31 which was presented to Mr. Blackmore to give to the veterans’ organization of his choice. He chose Central Missouri Honor Flight to receive those funds. Rep. Sara Walsh was also in attendance to honor our veterans. On Sunday, November 24, students and staff attended the “Welcome Home” ceremony for Flight 61 in Columbia to present the funds to the Central Missouri Honor flight. We are so grateful to those who have given so much on our behalf. Thank you, Veterans!
