Ball field Lights
Jamestown School District is pursuing a grant opportunity that would fund the replacement of all nine ball field lights on the baseball/softball field. The baseball/softball field and surrounding area is a vital part of our community. This area is not only used for school events, but community events all year round. The existing light poles are approximately 50 years old, and it is necessary to replace them in order for the ballfield to continue to be accessible for the community and school.

In conjunction with Jamestown Lions Club and the Summer Rec Organization, our school district’s goal is to submit the Land and Water Conservation Fund Project Application (LWCF), funded through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, this February, 2020.

The LWCF grant allows a maximum of $250,000 to be awarded per project. Although we have not finalized the cost estimates for the light replacement, we anticipate it will cost approximately $200,000 to replace and improve the nine lights and light poles. The LWCF grants is a 50-50 matching grant program, which means the school district must share at least 50% of the project cost. The sponsor’s match can include in-kind contributions (materials, equipment, cash, or labor). While individual letters will be mailed to businesses and organizations in the Jamestown community, individual support is also important to the awarding of this grant.

If you are interested in submitting a Letter of Commitment to help support the school district and community’s effort to be awarded this grant, please use this link to view a Sample Letter of Commitment. One of the requirements of the grant is to submit signed Letter of Commitment or Intent to Donate to provide assurance that the project can be completed within the project period.

You may email, mail, or bring a hard copy of this letter to the main office of the school. We would like to receive as many as possible by January 31, 2020. In the event you have any questions, please contact Dr. Guitard or Mr. Watson. The approved grants will be announced in late April with notice of award letters to be sent out by the end of the summer. Development or renovations must begin within one year of signing the grant agreement. Sponsors have two years from the award date the project agreement is signed to complete their project.

Thank you for your support!
