Dear Jamestown Families,

Today the District received an update from the Moniteau County Health Department regarding both test results and contact tracing. To date, we have two district employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 and six staff members who have been placed on quarantine. Contact tracing has not been completed on all students who may have been impacted by these results, but many families have already been informed of quarantine orders for their child/children due to the contact tracing results.

Now that more conclusive information has been provided to the District and at the recommendation of the health department,  the decision has been made to continue with virtual instruction through Friday, November 13. This closure may be extended based upon continued increases in positive COVID-19 test results and quarantine orders.

Scheduled Google Meets began today, Thursday, November 5. Secondary students (6th - 12th) will participate in their scheduled Google Meetings on odd numbered days (Thursday, November 5 was their first day). Elementary students (K - 5th) will have scheduled Google Meetings on even numbered days (Friday, November 6 will be their first day).  This schedule will remain in place until we return to in-seat instruction. Classroom assignments on alternating school days for secondary students will be released at the beginning of each class period. Attendance and participation is expected for all students during scheduled Google Meets. Please refer to the Virtual Learning Plan document if you have any questions. In the event your student needs to pick up textbooks or other materials, contact Nicole Coonce at cooncen@jamestown.k12.mo.us.

Meal delivery will continue throughout the closure. If you would like your child/children to be added to the meal delivery route, please email Mr. Watson at watsonj@jamestown.k12.mo.us.

In light of the current situation, both the Veterans’ Assembly and the Junior Class BBQ have been postponed. Details will be provided of alternate plans at a later date.

Please contact your student’s teacher/s if you have any questions about class assignments. We have prepared for Distance Learning, but we recognize there may be issues that we did not anticipate.  Thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,

Gretchen Guitard
