On October 7th, some students from Miss Marconnet's art and photography classes attended the Capital Sketch Day held at the Capitol building in Jefferson City along with other students and teachers from around the Show-Me Central Conference. Students chose a category of medium to use while sketching that would later be judged in those groups: Graphite, ink, colored pencils, pastels, watercolor, or mixed media. Students had 3 hours to find a view that they wanted to draw, make a comfy spot, then got to work. After the time was up, students' artwork was judged with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Jamestown winners included:
1st place mixed media- Aubrey P
1st place drawing-Logan
1st place watercolor- Kirstyn D
2nd place watercolor- Halle V
Some students from photography class brought a camera and used the time to adventure around and explore the Capitol to practice finding interesting photos of people, architecture, nature, and any details they could find.
Of course though, on the way home the bus had to make a stop at Central Dairy for an extra treat on a hot, sunny, summery day in October!

Parents or Guardians,
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 29th, from 1:15 PM to 7:00 PM.
Parents of students in grades 6–12 who would like to schedule a conference are asked to contact Nicole in the front office at
cooncen@jamestown.k12.mo.us to arrange a meeting schedule. Students in grades K-5 will be contacted by the classroom teacher to schedule conferences.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers, discuss any questions or concerns, celebrate your child’s accomplishments, and address any areas where additional support may be needed. These conversations help strengthen the connection between home and school and allow parents and teachers to work together to identify potential concerns early.
By working together, we can help ensure every student has the support, guidance, and resources needed to make this school year as successful as possible.
We encourage all parents to take advantage of this opportunity and look forward to seeing you on October 29th!
Sincerely,
Jamestown C-1 School
