National Honor Society Upcoming Events:
Toy Drive- We will be hosting a toy drive in honor of our very own Hero, Lance Cpl. Leon Deraps, with Leon's Patriot Tree and Operation Bugle Boy. Leon was a 2005 graduate of Jamestown C-1, and was KIA in May of 2006 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Today his memory lives on through organizations like these that help military families. These toys will be given to military families for the Christmas season. The toy drive will run until November 5th. Donations can be dropped off at the front office or in the school library. Feel free to bring items during P/T Conference night.
A Thanksgiving Food Drive will be held November 11th through the 21st. The three competing divisions are grades K-5th grade, 6-8th grade, and 9-12th grade. The winning class in each division will have the choice to choose between a popcorn and pickles party, an ice-cream party, or a pizza party. The teacher of the winning class will also receive a free drink from the Jamestown Merc. To win this prize, students will need to bring non-perishable food items into school. The class with the most donations in each division will win. High schoolers and middle schoolers, take your items to your class sponros room. Elementary, please bring your items to your classrooms. The NHS members will pick up canned food from classrooms.

Red Ribbon week will be held October 26-29th. We will have dress up days and a food drive. Please see the flyers attached.

Mrs. Schrader has been in contact with Brightspeed, and we have been informed that the issue is on their end. We have emphasized the importance of getting our phone system back up and running as soon as possible and will continue working with them toward a resolution.

Freshmen created and decoded each other’s messages using Morse Code in our study of inventions that changed society during the industrial revolution era. Those dots and dashes were more difficult to decipher than they thought it would be!
Science class has been having a lot of fun. They also got a class pet, a sweet rabbit named Mabel.

Yesterday we had some MS Students attend the Forbes Math Competition. This is the first time Jamestown has competed before. Jamestown Blue team which consisted of Sophia, Kolten and Lexi finished 13th out of 17 teams, and Jamestown white team which consisted of Milayna , Kinsley , and Gorden finished 14th out of 17 teams. Great Job Eagles!!
Cross Country will run at the conference meet tonight at Vienna!

To end our Geography study of the United States, the 7th grade students each got random puzzle pieces of states and had to put together this puzzle of the US by each taking a turn adding to the puzzle.
We had a 5 chapter unit of the United States as well as each student taking and passing quizzes of the states and capitals with 100% efficiency!
Now we excited to move along and learn about Canada!!

Dear Jamestown C-1 Parents and Guardians,
As we begin basketball season, we are excited to welcome our students, families, and visitors to our home games. We want our basketball games to be an enjoyable and safe experience for everyone.
We are asking for your help in reminding students who are not participating in the basketball game of the following expectations:
During Basketball Games
• Students should stay out of the hallways unless they have permission or a specific reason to be there.
• No playing in the bathrooms, cafeteria, or hallways.
• No running inside the building.
• Food and drinks should remain in the cafeteria or gym and should not be taken into the hallways or other areas of the building.
• Students are expected to be respectful of our school, staff, players, officials, and visiting teams.
Playing Outside
Students who choose to play outside on the front lawn are welcome to do so as long as they follow these expectations:
• Please pick up all trash before coming inside.
• Stay away from the bus barn area.
• Do not play in the streets, parking lots, or around parked vehicles.
• Please stay in safe areas and be aware of vehicles entering and leaving the school.
Lobby Entrance
For everyone's safety:
• Do not jump off, climb on, or stand on the rock walls at the lobby entrance.
• Please utilize the trash bin that is outside the lobby entrance.
• Please do not prop open the lobby doors at any time.
We understand that students are excited to attend and support their classmates. However, these expectations are important for the safety and enjoyment of everyone. Students who do not follow these expectations will receive a warning. If the behavior continues, the student will be asked to remain seated with their parent or guardian for the remainder of the game.
These expectations are in place to help keep our students safe, protect our school facilities, and allow our coaches, players, officials, and spectators to enjoy the game without unnecessary distractions.
We appreciate your help in talking with your child about these expectations before attending basketball games. Your support makes a big difference in helping us provide a safe, positive environment for everyone.

Tomorrow, 10/1 will be our picture retake/absentee day. We will also be doing senior tux/drape/Cap/Gown photos, and all club/groups including FFA. Please be sure you bring all items that you will need for the photos. Seniors do not have to bring anything for the tux/drape/cap/gown photos, all those items are provided. If you purchased pictures but plan to have your student retake photos please send the entire package back to school with your child tomorrow to turn into Wagner.

10:30–11:45 AM — Clubs (FFA & Officers will go last)
